The England Women recorded the highest ever T20I run chase in women’s cricket, to beat Australia by four wickets and claim the series 2-1.
The match in Canberra was highlighted by two incredible centuries, one from Australia’s Beth Mooney and the other from England’s Danielle Wyatt.
The 23-year-old Mooney hit 117* off 70 balls which included 19 fours and a six to help Australia post 178-2.
England’s chase was highlighted by a 57-ball ton from Wyatt and a 37-ball 51 from England captain Heather Knight, as the visitors chased down a target of 179 with six balls remaining.
Wyatt smashed two sixes and 13 fours en route to her ton, as England recorded a famous four-wicket win to claim a 2-1 series victory.
The Ashes outcome was judged as a collective. Two points were allocated per win for each match across all three formats. Australias 2-1 ODI series saw them earn four points to Englands two, the only Test was drawn handing both side’s two points each and England’s 2-1 victory in the T20Is saw them earn four points to Australia’s two.
Overall, England levelled the series ledger at 8 points apiece, as Australia retained the Ashes trophy after winning the first T20I on Friday.
