Malan, Sipamla debut as SA bat first

The Proteas have lost the toss and will bat first against Pakistan in the second T20I at the Wanderers, KHALID MOHIDIN reports.

The Proteas prevented Pakistan from completing a 10th consecutive victory with a thrilling six-run win at Newlands. Now they will aim to stop the visitors from extending their series streak of 11 consecutive series victories.

The biggest news leading up to the toss was who will replace Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis. David Miller has been handed the skipper’s armband as the Proteas decided to hand Janneman Malan and Lutho Sipamla their T20I debuts.

Pakistan made one change with Shaheen Afridi replacing Faheem Ashraf.

The game between the Proteas Women and Sri Lanka saw spinners dominate, with Sune Luus picking up 5-14. The Wanderers’ strip showing quite a bit of turn.
