Gibbs questions Amla’s World Cup prep

Proteas legend Herschelle Gibbs has once again spoken out about the Proteas’ decision to select Hashim Amla in their World Cup squad.

The 45-year-old was vocal about his thoughts before the World Cup, and once again took to Twitter to air his viewpoint to critical acclaim.

There has been an overwhelming response to his comments, with former England international Nick Compton also having his say.

Gibbs responded: ‘Even though Hash [Hashim Amla] has been out of form for a while now, selectors said he had a good record in English conditions. You don’t take it for granted that his form will come automatically. He also stopped playing domestic T20 cricket instead of working through it and scoring runs in the middle.’

Amla had another disappointing outing for the Proteas in their match against the West Indies. He lost his wicket for six. The match is currently delayed due to rain.
