Afridi tests positive for Covid-19

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi announced on Twitter that he has tested positive for the coronavirus after feeling ill for a couple of days.

Afridi broke the news on Saturday and has since received a lot of tributes and well wishes from the cricket fraternity, including current Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq, who reckons Afridi was doing charity work when he got infected.

‘My prayers are with him. All well wishes are with him that he gets out of this soon. I think he was doing a lot of work in the area of Balochistan and the northern areas just to help the people. Throughout the Covid situation he was helping the poor and doing a very good job. Well wishes are with him to get well soon,’ said Misbah, who is preparing his Pakistan team for an upcoming tour to England.

The 40-year-old Afridi Tweeted again on Sunday morning by thanking everyone, who has been supporting him, while he also emphasised the importance of people to remain safe under the current nature.

Afridi played close to 400 ODIs in the colours of Pakistan, where he accumulated more than 8000 runs and picked up 395 wickets.
