South Africa’s Cricketer of the 20th Century shows off his cover drive, at the age of 78.

The left-handed batsman averaged 60.23 in 23 Tests before his international career was tragically cut short by South Africa’s sporting isolation.

Pollock has had several health issues over the years. According to News24, he suffered small strokes, after which he had a pacemaker inserted, and his colon was removed. He also suffers from Parkinson’s disease.

Pollock lives in a retirement village with 24-hour care. He still watches cricket religiously on TV and enjoys walking his dogs.
