South African players secured major contracts ahead of the 2026 IPL, with franchises investing heavily in proven performers and emerging talent.

Heinrich Klaasen leads the group after being retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹23 crore (R53 million), underlining his value as a middle-order finisher.

Kagiso Rabada remains among the top earners, retained by Gujarat Titans for ₹10.75 crore (R25 million). His record as a consistent wicket-taker since his IPL debut in 2017 supports that valuation.

Tristan Stubbs was retained by the Delhi Capitals for ₹10 crore (R23 million) and continues to feature as a flexible middle-order batter following strong recent returns in the SA20 and the T20 World Cup.

The Punjab Kings secured Marco Jansen for ₹7 crore (R16 million), adding a left-arm seam option with batting depth.

The Rajasthan Royals retained Nandre Burger for ₹3.5 crore (R8 million).

AFRICA PICKS: Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals – IPL value bets

In the mid-range bracket, the Chennai Super Kings retained Dewald Brevis for ₹2.2 crore (R5-million). Brevis carried strong form from the SA20 into international cricket, reinforcing his long-term value.

The Lucknow Super Giants retained Proteas T20 captain Aiden Markram for ₹2 crore (R4.6-million), while the Delhi Capitals signed David Miller at the same price, bringing experience as a finisher.

Lucknow also signed Anrich Nortje for ₹2 crore (R4.6-million), while the Delhi Capitals added Lungi Ngidi for ₹2 crore (R4.6-million).

The Rajasthan Royals retained Kwena Maphaka for ₹1.5 crore (R3.5-million), recognising his development as a left-arm quick.

The Mumbai Indians signed Quinton de Kock and retained Ryan Rickelton for ₹1 crore each (R2.3-million). Rickelton’s consistent run-scoring in the SA20 strengthened his case as a top-order option.

The Rajasthan Royals also contracted Donovan Ferreira for ₹1 crore (R2.- million). Corbin Bosch and Matthew Breetzke are each on ₹75 lakh (±R1.7 million), while Lhuan-dre Pretorius is on ₹30 lakh (±R700,000).

These deals reflect current form as much as reputation. SA20 performances and international T20 contributions have reinforced player value, with Klaasen, Rabada and Markram anchoring the group and younger players continuing to gain traction.
