Duminy topples New Zealand

JP Duminy’s wicket of Henry Nicholls (118) sparked innings-best figures of 4-47 on day one of the second Test against New Zealand on Thursday.

Things looked rosy for the Proteas with the Kiwis on 101-5, after Kagiso Rabada executed what his captain spoke about earlier in the week, by removing the key wicket of Kane Williamson and debutant Neil Broom.

This brought Nicholls to the crease, who stunned South Africa with an incredible knock, hitting 118 off 161 balls to take the Black Caps past 200.

The momentum had switched until Duminy struck, by taking a scalp per over. He removed the danger man Nicholls first, followed by Colin de Grandhomme (4) and BJ Watling (31), as New Zealand went from 217-5 to 222-8 in just under five overs.

He finished things off by removing Wagner in the 80th over, to end with best figures (4-47), surpassing his previous best of 4-73 against Australia in 2014.
