Australia coach Justin Langer has confirmed that batsman Usman Khawaja has been ruled out of the rest of the World Cup with a hamstring strain.
Khawaja suffered the injury in the loss to the Proteas on Saturday, and will be replaced in the squad by Matthew Wade.
‘It’s such a pity for Khawaja, for someone who’s been so integral to how we’ve been playing,’ Langer told Cricket Australia’s website on Sunday.
Australia’s loss to the Proteas has left them with a semi-final date against England on Thursday.
