Rossouw makes steady start in PSL

Rilee Rossouw's contribution was not enough as the Karachi Kings claimed a 14-run PSL win over the Quetta Gladiators in Lahore.

Rilee Rossouw’s contribution was not enough as the Karachi Kings claimed a 14-run PSL win over the Quetta Gladiators in Lahore.

Rossouw scored 25 off 21 balls, including three boundaries, but fell at a key moment as Quetta’s chase slipped away despite a strong platform.

The Gladiators had earlier raced to 79 inside eight overs, powered by Shamyl Hussain’s rapid 52 off 24 balls. However, Karachi’s bowlers wrestled back control through Moeen Ali and Hasan Ali.

Moeen delivered a tight spell before Hasan turned the match with figures of 4-27, including Rossouw’s wicket and three more in a decisive penultimate over to halt Quetta at 167-7.

Karachi’s total of 181-7 had been built around Moeen’s unbeaten 48, with support from David Warner (35) and Salman Ali Agha (22).

Late acceleration from Sikandar Raza (24 off 10) and an unbeaten 40 from Haseebullah ensured a strong finish.

Hyderabad never recovered in the chase. Early strikes from Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ubaid Shah reduced them to 33-2, before regular wickets left them struggling at 65-5.

Despite 26 from Marnus Labuschagne, the Kingsmen were bowled out for 130, with Haris Rauf, Raza and Ubaid Shah all claiming two wickets each.
