KP: No way I would go to Australia for Ashes

Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen says there is “zero chance” he would have travelled to Australia for an Ashes series if he’d had to spend 14 days in quarantine upon arrival.

Several of England’s top players could pull out of the 2021-22 Ashes series as it appears unlikely that the squad will be able to avoid the strict 14-day quarantine period when they arrive Down Under.

Australia’s Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, has already said there will be “no special deals” for England’s cricketers, despite a plea from his British counterpart Boris Johnson.

Pietersen, who toured Australia on three separate occasions during his career, took to Twitter to voice his opinion.

The ECB has asked for confirmation of the players’ decision whether to tour by the end of September.

The Ashes series is due to start in Brisbane on 8 December before moving to Adelaide, followed by the traditional Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. The last two Tests will be in Sydney and Perth.
