Contract would be a ‘bonus’ for Bedingham

Proteas batsman David Bedingham is philosophical about missing out on a national contract.

Proteas batsman David Bedingham is philosophical about missing out on a national contract.

The 29-year-old made his Test debut against India last December, and has scored 347 runs at an average of 49.57, including a century and two fifties.

However, it wasn’t enough to earn him a CSA contract for the 2024-25 season.

“I’m disappointed not to have been offered a national contract,” told Rapport newspaper. But I didn’t expect to be signed after just four Tests. I don’t deserve it. If I’d played maybe 10 to 15 games and performed solidly, that’s another matter.

“The most important thing for me is still to represent South Africa. A contract would be a bonus.”
